MAKING ROOM FOR EVERYONE

What gives us permission to be
so ugly to our fellow man.
Could you stand face to face
and be as mean as you can
just because you don’t agree
on some political plan?

I want to live in a world that has room for everyone.
I want to live in peace
I want to respect the man
even when he begins to cease

I want to live in a world that has room for everyone
Where I can walk and not feel fear
Is it too much to ask of God while I am here?

Life, like a salad, has fruit and vegetables that can stand on its own
But mix them together we can create a delight.
An experience of sweet, sour, crunchy and soft
With the right sauce, it can taste just right.

Oh, give me the world that has room for everyone.
This is all I ask
Because I don’t want the day to come that
my child is the one the world does not want to make room for.
